Staff had the knowledge and skills they needed to carry out their roles effectively. They enjoyed attending training sessions and sharing what they had learnt with colleagues. There was an emphasis on teamwork and unison amongst staff at all levels. We were introduced to people throughout our visits and they welcomed us. We received positive comments about people’s views and experiences throughout our visits and these are detailed throughout the report.

They were knowledgeable about people's lives before they started using the service. Every effort was made to enhance this knowledge so that their life experiences remained meaningful. People were supported to maintain their personal interests and hobbies.
This research discovered how colour choices for carpets and soft furnishing can have a huge calming effect and be helpful for residents with dementia. Glebe House also ensures that residents with dementia have safe and enjoyable access to the gardens which is a huge and important part of their care and wellbeing. Care designed to provide quality support and comfort for people living with life-limiting conditions. The manager and staff gave us a warm welcome and they were enthusiastic to be part of the inspection. The majority of staff had worked in the home for a long time and were knowledgeable about people and their needs which meant that people could expect consistency of care. Everyone we spoke with shared their positive experiences about living in the home and the care they received. We spent time in various parts of the home, including communal areas and individual bedrooms so that we could observe the direct care, attention and support that people were receiving.
Outside of the home, residents can go for walks, have picnics in a local park, visit day centres or activity clubs, attend fitness classes and watch films. All residents are also provided with the opportunity to attend an annual holiday. Every registered care provider in the UK can claim a free listing on Autumna. However, a paid subscription allows more information to be added and as a result a higher profile score.

We see ourselves as an integral part of the health service providing respite and extended care to those who need it. At the bottom of the hill is the local church, dedicated to Saint Mary the Virgin. The beautiful village has two prestigious landmarks, the local pub, The Bowl Inn, and the spire and church of St Marys. The wide expanse of beautiful and mature wooded gardens as Glebe House is beautifully maintained with trees, shrubs and flowers to be enjoyed throughout the seasons. There are 46 beautifully decorated rooms here, most with their own en-suite.
Each weekday sees a variety of activities and trips led by our dedicated activities teams. All self-funding residents admitted to a nursing room will be charged an amount equivalent to FNC (NHS-Funded Nursing Care) on top of the bed rate. This will be fully refunded following a successful FNC application. Parts of this whitewashed-stone inn were originally the three cottages erected in 1146 to house the monks building the adjacent church of St Mary the Virgin. The pub is famed for its selection of local beers and home-cooked food. The pub has 11 guest rooms, including family-friendly and dog-friendly room options. The church is just across the green and close by is a small forge and an excellent garden centre with popular tea rooms. – the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
There was a strong sense of empowering people wherever possible and providing facilities where independence would be encouraged and celebrated. There are 41 single bedrooms and 6 shared bedrooms which are situated over 3 floors with two lifts to ensure easy access. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard with neutral and calming colour schemes with high ceilings and a feeling of light and space. The majority of bedrooms at Glebe House have an en-suite and any that don’t have a bathroom close by. All bedrooms have internet access with a television and telephone point to ensure residents are able to contact family and friends whenever they want to. Glebe house has still many of its beautiful victorian period features, including its entrance door, restored stained glass windows, its majestic staircase and its period reception rooms.

People were spending time in the lounges reading papers, talking with friends or taking part in activities. Some people were enjoying the day in the privacy of their own rooms and receiving visitors. The registered manager listened to people and staff to ensure there were enough staff to meet people's needs.
