While you've likely perfected the toothy grin and triangular nose, odds are you haven't transformed your pumpkin into an owl or given it 3D googly eyes.

Every year I like to add fun new twists. This year, my addition will be a collection of decoupage plates. I know you may be thinking, “Really, decoupage plates? I invited 10 Hallmarkers to join me in a decoupage workshop, and the results were amazing. Once we had finished putting the decoupage paper on, I made a mini witches hat out of black card and stuck that to the letter ‘B’ with a little blu tack. We then stuck our decoupage paper to the paper mache letters.

I colored the sides of the pop dot with a black marker to hide them. Continue with your strips of book paper until the entire pumpkin is covered.

Print starburst templates for colored accents. Stack up to 12 pieces of tissue paper and secure with binder clips as shown, inset, top right. Trace template onto top layer. Cut through all layers, moving clips as necessary to hold in place. You can apply tissue paper, napkins, wallpapers, book pages and a lot of other stuff on them using Mod Podge. I had the plan to paint with green, and then paint over it with black and use glue to give it the crackle effect, but I didn’t have any more glue! But you know that if you’re a crafter, you don’t fret- you simply find another way to be crafty.

I used a little sponge to get the creases and air bubbles out of the paper and then left to dry. Once dry I cut the excess decoupage paper off with my craft knife.
